From energy levels to weight changes, this blog aims to reveal how much what we eat (and don’t eat) affects our overall body. Ready to explore whether these 30-day challenges you see on the internet are worth the effort? Let’s jump right in.

30 Food Challenges | Mindful Diet Choices?

Warning: These choices might not be healthy for everyone. Before attempting them, consult your nutritionist or medical expert, as some underlying conditions can become problematic.

The Impact of No Food & Only Water for 30 Days

Going for an entire month with no food and only water is just as extreme as it sounds. It’s hardly surprising why folks are advised against skipping meals. Although fasting for some time does have health benefits, cutting out food for 30 days is never a good idea. The body needs nutrients to function, and depriving it of these needs can lead to serious issues.

A man on Twitter took on the challenge of a 42-day water fast, which he stopped at 30 days. During this time, he only drank water and supplement electrolytes, including Sodium, Magnesium, and Potassium. He started off the challenge at 97.85 kg and lost nearly 15 kg in a month. Impressive…but at a cost.

The man expressed that the first three days were the hardest. However, after the initial days were over, his hunger became more manageable. By the end of the first week, he noticed changes in weight and energy levels. This experiment reveals that extreme fasting can do wonders for your body. Nonetheless, it’s not for everyone. Do you consider it a mindful diet choice?

Living On Ultra-processed Food for a Month

While we must avoid ultra-processed foods, some dieticians believe the opposite. Jessica Wilson, a registered dietitian, decided to experiment with 80% of her diet consisting of ultra-processed food for 30 days. Let’s discuss whether it was a mindful diet choice or not.

The Experiment

For the experiment, Wilson swapped eggs for chorizo for breakfast. Instead of beans and avocado, she took homemade tamales for lunch.

Similarly, her snacks were replaced with cashew-nut yogurt with jam, while dinners often featured chicken sausages with vegetables and Tater Tots. Obviously, she wanted to gauge the harm the food would do, but the results were shocking.

The Results

Within just two weeks, Wilson noticed she felt better. Simply put, she wasn’t constantly hungry, had relatively higher energy levels, and even felt less stressed out throughout the day. Surprisingly enough, she found herself more active and needing less coffee. While her overall weight remained the same, the strength she felt was remarkable. However, it might not be a mindful diet choice for everyone.

Drinking 3-Liters of Water Everyday for 30 Days

Nobody’s new to the fact that drinking more water can be wonderful for health. However, YouTuber Scott Luu decided to experiment with drinking three liters of water every day for a whole month to see how it would impact his overall productivity.

Generally, it’s recommended to consume 3 liters of water every day, but not everyone pulls the real deal off. Naturally, the first thing Scott Luu noticed was the surge in his bathroom trips. He went from the usual six visits a day to double the number. But beyond that, he noticed some incredible benefits, too.

Benefits of His 3-Liter Water Intake

  • First up, the water consumption gave him more clarity and energy, which helped him get through the day without naps.Β
  • While the initial energy boost subsided within days, he still felt more productive all day without needing to push himself.Β
  • Plus, it also helped him keep up his stamina and remain focused on his life goals.Β

The Takeaway:

All things said, Luu mentioned that drinking water isn’t some magic fix. However, if you have clear goals and crave the energy to fulfill your dreams, adding 3-liters of water to your routine will work wonders for you. It’s no surprise that his challenge gained 200,000 views and many viewers even felt inspired to try it themselves.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, we must listen to our bodies. The experiments reveal that our bodies are quick to respond to what we put (and don’t put) into them. Whether it’s surviving on water, eating ultra-processed foods, or drinking excess water, everything leads to changes. The secret, however, lies in finding and adopting mindful diet choices that work best for you!
